Statewide agreement provides access to affordable software for K-12 students in Iowa
Cedar Rapids, Iowa - February 28th, 2008 - The Iowa Educator's Consortium (IEC) has partnered with Microsoft and e-academy Inc. to give K-12 students and teachers in the state of Iowa access to discounted software. Several popular software titles are available including full versions of Microsoft Office and Windows Vista.
The software has been made available through the Microsoft Student Select program, which allows the academic community access to personal, home use software licenses at up to an 85 percent savings.
The Student Select program enables K-12 students (through their parents if they are a minor) and faculty to buy single Microsoft products for home use at significant discounts. The program makes it easy and affordable for students and faculty to work on school projects on a home computer using the same Microsoft programs used at school.
Verification to participate in the program is completed by providing either a district email address or other proof of academic status.
"This partnership with Microsoft and the Iowa Area Education Agencies (AEAs) and the IEC has already saved students and teachers thousands of dollars on Microsoft purchases", said Jerry Cochrane, Technology Coordinator with the Iowa Educator's Consortium.

All Iowa parents, teachers and students are now eligible to access popular titles such as Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 and Windows Vista Ultimate by visiting the Iowa Educators Consortium web store located at http://IEC.e-academy.com.
